Gestational Surrogacy:

Biologically, the Carrier has no genetic link to the child. This can be done one of several ways:

• Mother's egg, father's sperm
  Example: this would be chosen if the biological mother was unable to carry for medical reasons
• Donor egg, father's sperm
  Example: if there was a question about egg quality of the mother, or there
  were no ovaries
• Mother's egg, donor sperm
  Example: this would be chosen if sperm quality was questioned
• Donor egg, donor sperm
  Example: this option would be chosen if the "parents" didn't want the Carrier to have any biological link to the child.

Traditional Surrogacy:

The Carrier would be using her own egg, and therefore have a genetic link to the child. In this arrangement, the Surrogate agrees to be inseminated with the sperm of the Intended Father. After the birth, the surrogate agrees to terminate her parental rights, and the Intended Mother does a step-parent adoption.
